Ethics and Accountability

At the Diaspora Human Genomics Institute, ethical integrity is foundational to every aspect of our work. We are guided by a dedicated Ethics Committee composed of esteemed leaders from across the African and African-descended communities in both the United States and Africa. This includes seasoned bioethicists, medical professionals, educators, and faith leaders—each selected for their deep commitment to human agency, global fairness and justice, transparency, and community trust.

Together, this committee ensures that all DHGI activities are conducted with rigor, cultural humility, and accountability. Their leadership helps safeguard the rights, dignity, and agency of the communities we serve, while advancing a model of genomics rooted in shared responsibility.
